Is CrewSearcher a local or global service?
A
CrewSearcher is a global service. Members can however specify a local area of interest if desired.

I can only search for crew. Why can't I search for crewing positions?
A
Yacht owners/captains/skippers use our CrewSearcher to select and contact crew for their specific purpose/voyage. We have experimented adding a Skipper/Owner section but this was not utilised much by Skippers/Owners as they could find keen, committed crew members and contact them directly from our database.

What age range does CrewSearcher cover?
A
We cover ages from 18 years old and above.

How do Captains/Skippers/Owners etc contact me?
A
Messages are sent directly (without revealing any contact details) to your members area. You can check for new messages at any time and respond as desired. CLICK HERE TO VIEW LATEST SKIPPER / OWNER REQUESTS

How do I get in touch with a CrewSearcher member?
A
From the members details section, simply click on the 'contact member' link. This will then take you to an area where you can type your message and send it directly to them (without revealing their email address)

How long does membership last for?
A
12 months.

Why do you charge to be listed as a crew?
A
We charge a small registration fee to help fund and promote/advertise our service. We are a non profit making organisation. From experience we have also found that by charging a small fee we eliminate the time wasters from the serious crew members. From feedback received, our skipper/owners prefer our system to any free service.

As a crew member how often can I update my details?
A
Whenever and however often you want to. Members update their details as their requirements change.

How do I add my photograph, details and CV?
A
Once you have paid your registration fee you are given access to the members area where you can add your details and upload your photograph and full CV if required.

What if I am disatisfied with your service?
A
If for any reason you are unhappy with our service within 14 days of joining, we offer a no quibble money back guarrantee. Our aim is to have happy members who'll spread the word rather than have anyone dissatisfied.

Do I get a receipt for joining?
A
Yes. This will be emailed automatically to you via PayPal or Nochex. If paying via post we we email a receipt directly to you once payment has been processed.

How many visitors currently use CrewSearcher?
A
We are are getting more and more visitors each day. Our current monthly average is over 10,000* individual visitors (over 136,000 hits) and is growing all the time. *Source: MatrixStats January 2006

How do you promote/advertise CrewSearcher?
A
We advertise through Google and all other major search engines and through select magazine publications (Yachting World, Yachting Monthly, Practical Boat Owner) etc worldwide.

Do you cater for disabled crew members?
A
Yes. It is however, up to the skipper/owner to choose crew for their boat.

Will I be reminded when my membership is due for renewal?
A
Yes. You will be emailed 2 weeks prior to membership expiry.

Do you charge a booking or placement fee?
A
No we don't. All we charge is for a small registration fee for crew members to help promote the service globally.

Are my private contact details on public display?
A
No they are not. We take your privacy very seriously. All contact details are kept hidden. Only if you choose to respond to an email message will the contactee know your email address.

Why should I join CrewSearcher - what am I likely to get out of it?

CrewSearcher offers you a platform to display your skills and experience to a huge variety of skippers/owners/captains/Agents. You can state precisely what you are looking for and if there is someone is looking for a crew member like you - they can contact you directly (without knowing your email address).

Yes please! We are extremely appreciative of people who take the time to give us feedback - good or bad. From your feedback we can enhance our service further - or wallow in our own glory!

Can partners/couples join CrewSearcher ?

Yes. Each person joins an in the additional information section this information can be added

What happens when I find what I'm looking for and no longer wish to have people contacting me via Crewsearcher?
A
You can simply switch your details to 'dormant' (and your details are withheld) until you need to use our service again. You can also delete your membership at anytime through the control panel.

Do you give or sell any personal information to any other businesses or organisations?
A
NO WE DON'T ! We take your privacy very seriously. Your information is only kept and used on the CrewSearcher web site. You can amend / suspend or remove this information at any time. You are always in complete control of your details.
