SWAN DANCER ARC 2008 Las Palmas - St Lucia The beautiful classic yacht Swan Dancer invites shared contribution guest crew to sail with her in the ARC 2008 as the next leg on route to Sydney for 2010. Entry fee will be £60 ARC organisers fee and the berth cost will be £100/day for the period on board from the start of the race to arrival in St Lucia. Reasonable onboard expenses towards victualling will also be required during this time. An opportunity to have a wonderful adventure while furthering your sailing experience in company with other like minded people. You will be a team player, easy to get along with and willing to muck in. Prior to the three week crossing, the 10 day grafting and trial sailing period running up to the start will be an opportunity to get to know the boat and for team bonding before the race. Only those able to commit to the 10 day preparation and sea trial period from 13 November can be accepted for a berth.

The passage starts in Brazil, we are sailing all across the Pacific to Indonesia with stops on the magnificent islands of the South Seas. We are looking for people who could join our project immediately and be in Brazil as soon as possible to monitor renovation work on the boat. Mechanical and technical experience are an advantage, also people with carpenter skills are preferred. The ability to speak portuguese is desirable as well. This boat is replica of a ship from 600bc, the time which many believe the Phoenician's made the first circumnavigation of Africa. The ship was recently built in Syria and is heading for the Red Sea to re-enact this historic journey. The is an historic expedition the way the Phoenicians did it, so there is no engine and virtually everything is authentic. Conditions are relatively basic, there is no air con, microwaves or built in showers etc. We do have modern nav equipment and safety standards. Above all this is a sailing ship making a challenging trip around Africa..around the Horn of Africa and the Cape of Good Hope. The crew is unpaid and they generally make a modest contribution for food and their flights as this is genuinly a once in a life time adventure. There is a good mixture of experience and youth on board but we need some more hands to help sail the ship!

Boat Fortino is a Rival 41AC built in 1980. She has an auto helm, wind vane, GPS´2, VHF and SSB Rx plus EPIRB, life raft etc. She is cutter rigged but can also be sailed as a sloop. Location The boat is currently in Almerimar marina in southern Spain. (nearest airport Almeria). Trip The aim is to deliver the boat to Levkas marina in Greece. (nearest airport Aktion). Route will be; Spain; Balearics; Sardinia; Sicily; Italy; Greece. The trip will take about 3 weeks but there is no objection to letting it take up to 5/6 weeks. Start date is flexible but I wish to be lifted out at Levkas by end Sept. and would like to start around 1st Aug. Skipper Retired sixty-four year old Yacht master Offshore with more than 10,000 nm, owner for the last 10 years, much of which has been as a live aboard.
